The Role:
Support the business to ensure the business is carrying out its legal obligations to Health & Safety, aligned with business operations, strategy, and objectives to create competitive advantage, and to drive best results for the site. Provide Health & Safety support to the site including, ensuring inductions for all staff and contractors, ensuring staff training needs are met across the site to ensure that all individuals are trained on the relevant safety elements, preparation and management of site Risk Assessments for all current processes and involvement within any new processes or equipment to the site, Management of SSOW’s, Near Misses and investigations into all near misses and accidents and being pro-active to manage and support the site Health & Safety team to close out any actions which are raised.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
To provide leadership on health and safety and environmental matters both at a group and site level
To develop, compile and implement a SHE strategy for the site to ensure the best / consistent practices are adopted in all areas.
Ensuring personal and environmental accidents are investigated, recorded, and reported properly, identifying, and recommending improved practices to reduce accidents.
Always ensure regulatory compliance with assistance given to relevant departments to ensure that their areas are compliant with legislation and JDM standards.
Keep the business informed of any new legislation, identify gaps, and implement actions to ensure conformity.
Ensure Environmental Agency PPC permit conditions are met.
Lead the site energy reduction program to deliver stretch targets.
Identifies and delivers SHE related training to drive site strategy.
To develop and lead health, safety, and environmental improvement programmes to a best-in-class standard.
Personal Attribute & Skills:
Diploma level NEBOSH H&S and Environmental qualification or equivalent, ideally degree level
Significant experience in a senior Health & Safety role ideally from a chilled food background
Passionate about SHE and ability to influence at senior level and champion change / implementation at all levels.
Strong communication skills both in terms of verbal / presentation skills and written documentation and a team player.
Able to demonstrate compliance to legislation and use of problem-solving skills / personal judgement as well as policy adherence to make optimum business decisions.
Strong management and influencing skills with experience of supporting production-based requirements.
IT skills essential – Microsoft Excel
Can work harmoniously and closely with all colleagues and build relationships with all internal customers.
